Tips for Smoother Mornings

Do you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and full of energy for the day ahead?

1: Stick to a schedule

One of the best ways to make yourself wake up refreshed and on time is to stick to a regular schedule. Many of us tend to binge on sleep (or catch up) over the weekend, but this isn’t a great habit. It requires us to reset our circadian rhythms every week. On the other hand, if you stick to a normal schedule, trying not to deviate by more than 30 minutes, you’ll start getting great sleep. Your body’s sleep cycle will adjust to be ready to wake up just before your alarm clock goes off, and you’ll be able to fall asleep easier and faster at night.

2: Take time for a little bit of quiet

Most of us plan to get out of bed with just enough time to get ready, grab a bite, and get to work right on time. However, your mornings will go a lot smoother when you plan out more than the bare essentials. Reserve 15-30 minutes for a little bit of quiet time in the morning, doing something that you like, something that will prepare you for the day. This might be listening to a podcast, doing a workout like yoga that makes you feel relaxed and energized, reading the paper, meditating, or making a list of tasks to accomplish that day.

Don’t consider this time a luxury that may or may not happen, depending on how much you want to push the snooze button. Prioritize it until it’s something that you look forward to in the morning and motivates you to get moving.

3: Make quick, nutritious breakfast easy

We’ve heard a million times that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why do we keep neglecting it?
