Party with Matcha Cocktails!

Everyone knows matcha as a premiere superfood that has emerged in popularity over the past few years (at least in Western countries). However, matcha isn’t all about health, business, messy buns, and yoga sessions in the early morning. Matcha can just as easily be the drink you let your hair down to and get your party on with! If you want a delicious way to spice up a party, check out some of our favorite matcha cocktail recipes...

Matcha gin sour

Anyone who’s a fan of gin or whiskey sours should try this awesome nutrient packed twist on these classic drinks. Here are the ingredients:

  • Matcha powder
  • Lemon juice
  • Gin
  • Simple syrup
  • Egg white
  • Bitters

Essentially, you make this like you would a classic gin sour. Mix half a scoop of matcha in with your lemon juice and gin. Aim to get some light froth from the matcha in the mix. After this, add the egg white and simple syrup, and then shake in a shaker intensely until cold and completely mixed. Now strain into a cold glass and enjoy!

Irish matcha

Matcha is often talked about as a great alternative to coffee. Well, one of the funnest incarnations of coffee is the kind that makes you feel on cloud nine, Irish coffee. The concept of Irish coffee is simple: it’s coffee that gets you tipsy (or drunk). Irish matcha carries on in this fine tradition with only a few core ingredients:

  • Matcha powder
  • Water
  • Spirits (usually Jameson whiskey, but Bailey’s cream is also common).

Make a cup of hot matcha tea, like you normally would, and then mix in your favorite rendition of alcohol. Whiskey and Bailey’s are the classics, but we think that some rum goes a long way with matcha tea.

Matcha Tom Collins

The classic Tom Collins is named after a practical joke that went viral long before the internet was a wisp of a dream of someone’s imagination. While the joke may have died out after 1874, the Tom Collins cocktail has been a cocktail staple ever since. Here’s how you can inject some matcha into this bar mainstay:

  • Matcha powder
  • Ice
  • Gin or vodka
  • Lemon juice
  • Simple syrup
  • Club soda

To make a matcha Tom Collins, simply make a traditional glass of iced matcha tea, and then mix in the spirits, lemon juice, club soda, and simple syrup and shake until it is well mixed and icy cold.
